Petropt Services  /  Asset Decision Pack

A technical decision memo for the oil & gas asset on your desk.

Send us the asset package. Petropt delivers a decision memo: production diagnostics, decline forecasts, EUR ranges, reserve and economics sensitivity, risk flags, and recommended next actions — from 72 hours to 3 weeks, depending on scope.

From $7,500 · Stanford PhD-led, human-expert oversight, fixed scope and fixed price · Mutual NDA before any data review.

Who this is for

Three buyers with a deadline.

Small / mid E&P

Pre-LOI or pre-bid asset screen

You're looking at a Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Permian, Eagle Ford, Haynesville or mature conventional asset and need a defensible technical read before spending money on full diligence.

Mineral buyer / family office / PE

Multiple deals, limited technical bench

You see more opportunities than you can technically screen. Petropt gives you an AI-assisted technical reviewer that scales with deal flow, not headcount.

A&D advisor / energy lender

Independent technical read for the file

You need a third-party technical opinion the credit committee, board, or buyer-side counsel can rely on — without commissioning a full reserves report.

What you get

A delivered memo, not a slide deck.

Every engagement closes with a PDF decision memo the buyer can take into an investment committee, plus the underlying Excel models with every assumption documented.

1. Production diagnostics

Decline curves, abnormal wells, shut-ins, outliers, allocation issues, data-quality gaps, normalization checks.

2. EUR / type-curve range

P10 / P50 / P90 scenarios, analog comparisons, uncertainty bands.

3. Reserve-sensitivity support

Transparent assumptions, reserve categories, sensitivities — for internal decision-making. Not a certified SEC reserves report; we'll refer Ryder Scott / NSAI / DeGolyer if you need a signed opinion.

4. Economics

NPV, IRR, PV-10 view, price-deck sensitivity, OPEX / CAPEX assumptions, payout timing.

5. Risk memo

Data gaps, geologic risk, operational risk, artificial-lift exposure, water / disposal, regulatory, commodity-price exposure.

6. Recommended next actions

Buy, pass, bid lower, request more data, drill, recomplete, refinance, or run deeper diligence — with the engineering reasoning behind each path.

Engagement tiers

Three ways to engage.

Start with QuickLook for a pre-bid screen, scale to Deep Diligence when the deal is real, move to a Retainer when you're seeing multiple deals a month.

Tier 1 · 72 hours

Petropt QuickLook

$7.5k – $10k

A 72-hour pre-bid or pre-development screen. Production diagnostics, decline forecast, EUR P10/P50/P90, basic economics, top risk flags, and a recommended-next-actions paragraph. Designed to land before the LOI conversation.

Tier 2 · 1–3 weeks

Petropt Deep Diligence

$15k – $50k

A full technical/economic decision package for a serious bidder, PE-backed operator, mineral buyer or family office. All six deliverables, full sensitivities, walkthrough call, and one round of revisions.

Tier 3 · Monthly

AI Engineering Retainer

Scoped monthly

For acquisition teams seeing multiple deals a month. Recurring asset screening, reserve-sensitivity support, production surveillance, decision memo generation, plus reusable Petropt agents tuned to your deal style.

Discuss Retainer →

All engagements are mutual-NDA-first. Fixed scope, fixed price. Larger or unusually complex assets scoped on the call.

How it works

Five steps. NDA before any data review.

01

Scoping call

20 minutes, free. You describe the asset, the audience, the deadline. We come back with fixed scope and price.

02

Engagement letter + NDA

Standard 24–72 hour turn on both.

03

Data hand-off

CSV, Excel, Aries (.adb), PHDwin, seller deck, redacted data-room export. Whatever you have.

04

Modeling

Petropt agents run the technical and economic workflows; a petroleum engineer reviews assumptions and risks before delivery.

05

Delivery

PDF decision memo + Excel detail file + walkthrough call. One round of revisions included.

Why us

Agents do the analysis. A petroleum engineer signs the conclusions.

Stanford PhD-led, founder-delivered

The Stanford PhD on the engagement letter is the person you talk to on every call. No anonymous hand-offs, no slide-deck consulting.

Auditable methodology

Built to defensible industry standards. Every assumption and reference is documented in the delivered memo — defensible to your auditor, lender or board.

Same engine as the workflow suites

The petroleum-engineering calculations on tools.petropt.com run on the same engine we use in engagements. You can see the methodology before you write a check.

Fast, fixed-scope, no platform sale

72 hours to 3 weeks per engagement. No long implementation, no enterprise procurement cycle, no software you have to host.

Scope honesty

Where this fits, and where it doesn't.

This is a fast, defensible decision-support package. It is not a substitute for field execution, legal advice or a signed statutory opinion.

Not a certified reserves report. We're not a registered reserves auditor and we don't issue SEC-filing reserves opinions. For signed reserves opinions, use Ryder Scott, NSAI, DeGolyer or another qualified reserves auditor.

Not a fairness opinion. We don't opine on deal fairness or valuation fairness. We identify reserve, cash-flow and compliance assumptions that should be addressed before a credit or bid decision.

Not legal advice. Counsel owns securities, credit-agreement and disclosure conclusions. We provide the engineering evidence counsel, auditors and committees can review.

Not field services. No rig pulls, no completions, no operations execution. We provide the decision-support package; you run the asset.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is this an SEC reserves report?

No. The Asset Decision Pack is an internal decision-support package with transparent assumptions and sensitivities. For SEC-filing reserves opinions, work with Ryder Scott, NSAI, DeGolyer or another registered reserves auditor.

Do you replace our reservoir engineer or A&D team?

No. Petropt agents do the repetitive analysis and document assumptions; a petroleum engineer reviews and signs the conclusions. Your team keeps judgment, deal-side relationships, and final authority on every decision.

What geographies do you cover?

Standard scope is US onshore: Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Permian, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Anadarko, mature conventional fields. Other regions (North Sea, Canada, Middle East) scoped on the call.

What data formats do you accept?

CSV, Excel, Aries (.adb), PHDwin (.phw), generic reserves PDFs, seller decks, redacted data-room exports. We can also pull from public production data (state regulator filings) for the first screen.

Can you work with confidential data-room material?

Yes. Mutual NDA before any data review. Redacted material is fine. We do not retain or train on your data and we don't share findings outside the engagement.

How does this compare to Enverus / ComboCurve / Novi?

Those are large platforms with strong data and analytics. Petropt is not another dashboard subscription — the deliverable is a decision memo, not a platform. Better fit when you need a fast, audit-ready answer on a specific asset without a multi-month implementation or seat licence.

Need only a reserves sanity check?

If the immediate question is reserves report quality, use the narrower 72-hour version.

If you already have a reserves report and the immediate question is DCA assumptions, PUD compliance, price-deck or LOE sensitivity, or PV-10 robustness — Petropt Reserve Red-Flag Review is the narrower 72-hour subset of this package, focused on the reserves file only.
